rebel, and your listening to
3
:Digital Business Your Way podcast.
4
:The show that lets true stories
and insider secrets of online
5
:entrepreneur life unfold.
6
:Our business world is growing and as
an online business coach and digital
7
:product creator, I believe you didn't
become an entrepreneur to grin and
8
:bear your way through business.
9
:So I'll be your guide.
10
:As we drop in on coaching
calls, have intimate sit downs
11
:with online personalities.
12
:You love.
13
:And discuss ideas, opportunities and
strategies circulating our online world.
14
:So pop in your earbuds, tap,
follow, and join me as I demystify.
15
:This thing called business.
16
:Hello, everyone.
17
:Tracie here, your resident business rebel.
18
:And we'll welcome back to
digital business your way.
19
:Today, we're going to tackle something
that comes up for almost every
20
:entrepreneur, at least at some point,
if not on the regular overthinking,
21
:what makes your business, your work,
your offers, your pricing, your sales
22
:approach, your anything special.
23
:Yeah.
24
:Cause I hear this on
coaching calls all the time.
25
:I don't know how to stand out.
26
:I don't think what I do is that unique.
27
:I'm just another coach, just
another course creator, just
28
:another service provider doing
what everyone else is doing.
29
:How am I going to be this different
whenever I make this, Oh, did
30
:you see this person make that?
31
:Oh, did you see what they
said about this or that?
32
:And if that sounds familiar, I'm
actually going to call BS on it today.
33
:You're likely not seeing what makes you
different because you're too close to
34
:it and the kicker, the way to finally
see it might not be what you expect.
35
:So why does this happen?
36
:Why do we struggle to
pinpoint what makes us unique?
37
:Even when we're doing great work.
38
:And one big reason is that we're, you
know, we're inside our own businesses.
39
:We normalize what we do because
it's just how we think and operate.
40
:And we don't even realize that
what we do is different because
41
:we don't see anybody else, right?
42
:We don't have somebody in
the office next door to us.
43
:We don't have somebody to compare
things to on a regular basis.
44
:We just do things how we're doing them.
45
:And so we don't realize how different,
how unique, how, whatever it is.
46
:Yeah.
47
:But here's the hard truth.
48
:When you're overthinking what
makes your business special, you're
49
:actually avoiding making a clear
decision about what you stand for.
50
:It's a distraction.
51
:That uncertainty is actually
keeping you stuck in a loop.
52
:Okay.
53
:Because the more you wait for
something flashy to prove your
54
:value, the more you are losing
trust in what's already working.
55
:You're chasing after something and
losing sight of what already is, right?
56
:Because you might have a process that's
completely game changing to somebody else.
57
:But because it's obvious to
you, it doesn't feel special.
58
:And as you're running after the, the
invisible, the elusive, the, the shiny
59
:thing that you see off in the distance
that you think is there, that you
60
:think is the answer, you're actually
losing sight of what already is.
61
:And that's a distraction, right?
62
:Instead of digging deep.
63
:Into what is and into what you stand
for and realizing that what you're
64
:already doing, how that connects to your
values, how that connects to your you.
65
:Okay.
66
:What's another reason?
67
:Well, we're often waiting for that
something flashy to validate our work.
68
:We're looking at.
69
:And if we're not doing that, we assume
we're just another business in the crowd.
70
:That's that comparison stuff.
71
:Yeah.
72
:When the only thing we need
to compare ourselves to is
73
:who we were yesterday, right?
74
:Who we were an hour ago, who we
were in, in action versus action.
75
:Yeah.
76
:And if you're ready, I'm going to give
you a true confession shocker because in,
77
:in, in honesty and truth and all of the
things I go through this all the time.
78
:Gasp.
79
:What?
80
:Yes, really, really.
81
:Right.
82
:Is this something that I
talked to my coach about?
83
:Surprise what we often coach other
people on pretty effortlessly.
84
:Right.
85
:We can, we can easily just like spout
off answers and help somebody through it.
86
:These are often the areas that
we need the most help with too.
87
:Well, it's like, oh, it's time
for a self-coaching day, isn't it?
88
:But seriously there, there's
never any shame in that.
89
:You know, that, that's why we have
these, these hard conversations.
90
:That's why we dig deep into the,
into the patterns that we notice
91
:into the things that are going on.
92
:Right?
93
:Because that's actually just an
illustration of that issue I was just
94
:talking about, about being too close to
it, that we don't even know that it's
95
:happening until it's pointed out to us.
96
:Yeah.
97
:If you're into human design.
98
:Something that I had been told by the,
the, the HD experts in my life is that
99
:I have an undefined G center and that
means that my sense of self is more
100
:fluid, I'm more open to how others see me
than I am to my own knowing of who I am.
101
:And I found that when I try to
define my own brilliance, like in a
102
:vacuum, well, I struggle to see it.
103
:And I tend to make, you know,
offhand comments or self
104
:deprecating jokes and like make
little nuances and little laughs.
105
:Right.
106
:Because that is, that
unnatural state, right?
107
:So there, there's kind of
that piece at, at play here.
108
:Whenever you're trying to see this,
this uniqueness, this special teeness
109
:of one's self versus one's business.
110
:Yeah.
111
:And whenever you're an entrepreneurship,
you know, that those things are so
112
:tied together that it's hard to see.
113
:The ending, the beginning, you know,
the, the entanglement of it all.
114
:Right?
115
:So we sit here and we start with,
Oh, what makes my offer unique?
116
:What makes my business unique?
117
:And you end up talking about
characteristics of yourself
118
:and you're like, wait, hang on.
119
:I am supposed to be talking about
this one thing, not this other thing.
120
:And it's like, wait, wait, hang on.
121
:What's going on here?
122
:Right?
123
:Because we're so intertwined.
124
:With these two pieces,
especially whenever we are
125
:the, the face of our business.
126
:Yeah.
127
:So having these kinds of things where
it's not a natural state for us to see
128
:who we are whenever you, you know, didn't
have a lot of opportunities to shine.
129
:Growing up, or when an opportunity came
up and it wasn't safe to do it, or when
130
:you were cut down, you know, bullied,
laughed at, made fun of, or when you had
131
:it, when they were taken away, right?
132
:Those are all very valid reasons
for why it no longer feels natural
133
:to allow yourself to feel special
and that can bleed into this search
134
:for your business to feel special.
135
:Special and to have the realization that
it already is because you made it that
136
:inherent value, but we can do the work.
137
:Of acknowledging and working through
it, of knowing that it was there,
138
:knowing that that was the situation, but
not allowing it to keep a hold on us.
139
:Yeah.
140
:What we need to realize and work
through is that what if your uniqueness,
141
:isn't something you figure out, right?
142
:It's not the thing that you are chasing
that leaves you running further away
143
:from what you've already created, right?
144
:That keeps you stuck in that loop.
145
:But what if it's something
that you actually remember?
146
:What if it's already obvious to
your perfect clients, and all
147
:you have to do is listen to them,
148
:right?
149
:What if how you have built the things
that you have and how you care for
150
:the people that you interact with
is already so perfect, so brilliant.
151
:For the people that need it, that you
just have to have your eyes open to it.
152
:You know, I, and, and
that's what happened to me.
153
:Like that sparked the idea for this
episode, someone reflected it back to me.
154
:I got a voice note the other and
she told me how powerful it was to
155
:hear me talk about launching in a
way that actually fits you instead
156
:of trying to force yourself into
this rigid traditional strategies.
157
:She said it was exactly
what she needed to hear.
158
:And in that moment, like, as I was
listening to her and she was sharing
159
:her story and she was telling me what
it meant for her to hear me speak.
160
:And I wasn't, I wasn't giving a pitch.
161
:I was just kind of plainly
talking about what it was.
162
:Right.
163
:And I was saying I kind of need some
ideas and some help with this is
164
:where I'm at and this is what I'm
thinking and what all of you think.
165
:Right.
166
:I was having that kind of conversation
with a group of peers and she said, this
167
:is exactly what I needed to hear, that it
was sexy, that it was amazing, that it was
168
:that permission that she was after, that
she absolutely loves what I'd created.
169
:Right.
170
:And in that moment, I could feel
it, that hell yeah, let's go,
171
:that fire, that passion ignited.
172
:Right?
173
:Because the truth is, when I hear other
people talk about what I create, when
174
:they tell me what stood out to them, it's,
it's like my whole energy erupts, right?
175
:I go from wondering, is this
really that good to, oh yeah,
176
:this is exactly what people need
and I need to talk about it more.
177
:And I know I'm not the only one
who experiences this because that's
178
:why I hear people ask me about it
all the time on coaching calls.
179
:Yeah.
180
:know, and, and I see so many business
owners doubting what makes them stand
181
:out and trying so many things and,
and, you know, popping from one idea
182
:to the next, to the next it chasing
after this elusive uniqueness.
183
:When in reality.
184
:They just need a new way of seeing
it and, and playing with this
185
:harmony of the business special
versus when your own insecurities
186
:are kind of dipping back in there.
187
:Right?
188
:Like we were just talking about.
189
:So how do you start recognizing your
own brilliance and your business
190
:brilliance if it doesn't feel obvious?
191
:So pause with me for a second.
192
:Think about the last
time someone thanked you.
193
:They messaged you.
194
:And they lit up after a
conversation with you.
195
:Any kind.
196
:Personal life, relationship, business.
197
:All the above, right?
198
:What did they say?
199
:Hmm?
200
:that's your answer.
201
:That's your brilliance.
202
:That's what you bring into everything.
203
:That's the values that become the
foundational baseline of your business,
204
:of your offers, of your selling style,
of your launch styles, of how you
205
:love to create communities, right?
206
:It's already there.
207
:Sit with it, feel it, make note of it.
208
:Yeah.
209
:And because you know, I
love my micro actions.
210
:I'm going to give you three others
that you can take into your daily life.
211
:The first one being a
continuation of that pause, right?
212
:How that you can pay attention to what
other people are reflecting back to you.
213
:What are they always asking you about?
214
:What do they thank you for?
215
:What feels obvious to you, but
blows people's minds, even little
216
:things like, how did you know that?
217
:Or, Oh my gosh, that makes so much sense.
218
:Like all those little things that people
say that you just kind of giggle at.
219
:Right.
220
:What is it?
221
:And it's not just the, well, yeah,
I knew that, but it's also, how
222
:did you handle the situation?
223
:What was the interaction like for them?
224
:How did you make them feel?
225
:How did you feel when you did it?
226
:It's a whole 360, right?
227
:It's a whole ecosystem there.
228
:Okay.
229
:And we have to stop waiting
for something to feel flashy.
230
:Okay.
231
:Because standing out, it's not about
being the loudest and it's not about
232
:being the supposed most unique, right?
233
:It's about owning what you do in a
way that feels deeply true to you.
234
:Like in your own damn skin,
like, like where you are fully
235
:embodied, you are walking in it.
236
:And again, that's back to that harmony
between yourself and your business,
237
:where whenever you look at what you're
building, you see yourself reflected
238
:in it and in the parts that you don't,
we audit, we audit and we edit it out.
239
:Yeah, that's how you stand out.
240
:Some of the most impactful
businesses, they're not built
241
:on being supposedly different.
242
:They're built on just being aligned
with the owners and the values.
243
:And the third micro action,
talk about your work.
244
:And with that energy of hell,
yeah, this is what I do.
245
:Right.
246
:Cause the fastest way to get
people excited about your offer
247
:is It's to get excited yourself,
you know, there's a reason these
248
:are like tried and true advice.
249
:Talk about it out loud to your pets, your
plants, the mirror on your wall, anything.
250
:Just say it out loud and notice
how does your voice change, right?
251
:Like what is your inflection like?
252
:Do you get kind of shaky?
253
:Does your breath speed up?
254
:Is your heart racing?
255
:Is your palms like all like,
ah, and sweaty and shaky.
256
:Right.
257
:Are you like getting physically
excited and in that moment, that's
258
:when you write your messaging.
259
:That's when you make your replies.
260
:That's when you edit
your sales page, right?
261
:That's when you get ready for
those launch events, okay?
262
:That is that, that like I am, I
am so in this, I am so excited.
263
:I'm all in, I'm ready for this.
264
:I feel this.
265
:These people are like, they need
to hear what I'm saying, right?
266
:Hit record and capture it.
267
:That is that unedited raw
experience that people need.
268
:And when you struggle with those
feelings, when you struggle tapping
269
:into that, borrow that energy from
the people who do see your brilliance.
270
:Yeah.
271
:Like I did when I got the message.
272
:And she had this one line where she said,
people want to figure out their own way
273
:of launching, and that's super sexy.
274
:How you coach them.
275
:Oh my gosh, play that
whole thing on repeat.
276
:It fires me up.
277
:It like, I, I have starred that message.
278
:I just want to play it
over and over again.
279
:Every time that I go to think about,
all right, what is going to happen?
280
:How are we going to do this?
281
:You know, what's, what's,
what are people after?
282
:What's some inspiration.
283
:And instead of going from scratch, instead
of going into doubting, instead of going
284
:with, oh, I don't know what's going to
be attractive, what's going to be this,
285
:what's going to be that it's like, uh,
The entire concept, the entire permission
286
:slip, the entire idea, that whole
perspective shift, whole thing is right.
287
:Like you already are.
288
:The reality is that you don't have to
reinvent everything to be valuable.
289
:Owning what makes you different.
290
:It's not about chasing the flash.
291
:It's about standing firm in
what's already true for you.
292
:Cause stability, not novelty
is what creates magnetism.
293
:The way you think,
teach, support, connect.
294
:It's already different because
you are as a human, right?
295
:business human harmony.
296
:You have to just stop looking for a
neon sign to tell you it's special.
297
:You have to stop with that
distraction and stand firm.
298
:And what you believe in and how, what
you've already created reflects it, right?
299
:So here's my challenge to you.
300
:Start paying attention to what
people reflect back to you.
301
:Write it down.
302
:Keep a list.
303
:Stop assuming that because
something feels obvious to you, it
304
:must be obvious to everyone else.
305
:Yeah.
306
:You've heard that one before.
307
:Remember your business isn't
here to fit into a mold.
308
:It's here to shift perspectives
to offer something only you can.
309
:So the real question
isn't how am I different?
310
:It's how am I already showing up
as a voice for something bigger?
311
:And the next time you find yourself
overthinking what makes your
312
:business special, just borrow
someone else's perspective until
313
:you can see it for yourself.
314
:Okay.
315
:If today's episode hit home, send
me a message and tell me one thing
316
:you now see differently about
your own business and that lovely
317
:interconnection between you as a human
and the business that you've built.
318
:I'd love to hear it
until the next episode.
319
:Be well and have some fun.
320
:Thank you for joining me here
on Digital Business Your Way.
321
:Be sure to check out the show notes
for all the links mentioned today.
322
:And while you're there, I'd love
for you to rate and review the show.
323
:And if you have a topic or question you
want me to answer, I want to hear it.
324
:Head to Tracie Patterson dot com slash
AMA and ask me anything about business.
325
:If I don't know it, I'm bringing
up with one of my guests.
326
:And until next week, be
well and have some fun.
